Making The Most of Your Weekend at The Glen
Let's us fill you in on some great things going on at the track during the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen Event Weekend.  The 27th Running of the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen is sure to be a battle on the track. In the Daytona Prototype series, the team of Chip Ganassi with drivers Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas continue their dominance, but the two Bob Stallings Racing teams are gaining on them. This endurance race is another test towards to Rolex Series championship. There will be 19 Daytona Prototypes and 26 GT class cars taking on the twists and turns of The Glen. In the GT class, the Banner Racing dual force of Kelly Collins and Paul Edwards are going for three straight wins. One team chasing them has a driver that many of us in a different way. Actor Patrick Dempsey makes his way to Watkins Glen. Dempsey is best known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd (a.k.a. Dr. McDreamy) on the hit TV drama Grey's Anatomy. Fans may have also seen him in the recently released movie Made of Honor. He will compete for Hyper Sport racing in the GT class on Saturday. All of these driver's will be on hand at their team transporters on Friday from 1:30pm to 2:30pm signing autographs. Make sure you have your race gear from the Pyramid Souvenir Shop for your favorite driver to autograph. They will also be around their paddock on Saturday before the race to get that last minute signature.  The NASCAR Camping World Series East Division (formally the NASCAR Busch East Series) makes their return to The Glen to race on Sunday, June 8th. The upcoming stars will be on hand Saturday from 4:00pm - 5:00pm for their own autograph session in Turn 10. One of the driver's who will be there is known simply as The G.O.A.T., not the animal but, the Greatest of All Time, Ricky Carmichael. Racing on four wheels instead of two, you can get his autograph on Saturday.  Ricky Carmichael and Ken Schrader Racing driver Jamie Hayes will be in Fan Hospitality on Saturday in Turn 11. They are scheduled for a Q&A from 1:00pm - 1:30pm. It is open to any fan that has purchased hospitality for the event weekend. Fan Hospitality admission costs only $25 and will be open 10:00am - 6:00pm on Saturday, June 7. The price of admission not only covers the Q&A but also unlimited beverages all day, an all-you-can-eat tailgate-style lunch 11:00am - 1:00pm, and a snack bar 3:00pm - 4:00pm. Tickets can be purchased on Saturday. Fans are also welcome in the NASCAR Camping World Series garage throughout the weekend. Fans can check out the crews and the cars at specific times each day: Friday 8:00am - 12:30pm, Saturday 12:00pm - 5:00pm, Sunday 9:00am - 11:30am. The NASCAR Camping World Series 150 at The Glen takes the green flag at 12:30 on Sunday. Saturday night, fans will have the opportunity to check out another competition happening. The 2nd Annual Sahlen's Hot Dog Eating contest will start soon after the conclusion of the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen. Make your way to Turn 10 to see how many hot dogs your fellow race fans can eat. Following that, the rock and blues band Brainbell Janglers play on the Red Cat Summer Stage starting at 6:30pm.
